Eric Asimov, New York Times wine writer in 2009, proclaimed negociant J. Carr “ a producer to match”, ranking his wines alongside world-famous Napa brands. He claimed Joseph Carr wines to be “well balanced and restraint”.
J. Carr spent ten years serving wine as sommelier in fine restaurants, and another decade as an international industry executive.
In 2005 he decided to form his own family-owned company to realize a life-long objective.
Bordeaux and Burgundy inspire his wine style, and his winemaking philosophy is balance, sophistication, and approachability, but distinctly California. He sources his red grapes from Napa, and whites from neighbouring Sonoma County.
The company has two lines Joseph Carr, and Josh.
